A Short Break

Just a note to say I'm still here, and holy crap, I have a lot to say. Between reader stories, testing instructions, personal updates, and a few surprises, the majority of my day is spent thinking about how much I have to catch up here.

I'll start back up again shortly--I'm usually not this pokey, but I really had NO idea a four-month-old could require so much energy! For the record, I'm typing this one-handed because I have an over-tired baby in my arms, there's a puddle of spit-up in my lap, and you don't even want to know what time I woke up this morning.

All is well and we're making progress. Please stay tuned for the latest adventures in Lyme Pregnancy. I promise, it will be worth the wait.

  1. Thank you so much for starting this journal. I also have long term Lyme Disease and have been wanting to get pregnant at some point. Your story is totally inspirational to me.

I was wondering, I saw in your blog entries that you were unable to use IV due to having a reaction. Did you stay on oral antibiotics during your pregnancy? I am not sure my doc will give me an IV, I think he wants use oral drugs, so I am not sure how to proceed.

    Thanks!

  2. Thanks, Ann! Congrats on feeling ready to make some babies soon! ;) I can honestly tell you that the IV was way more trouble than it was worth, and most LLMDs will say that if you can get by on orals, even better. I think it depends on how bad you're feeling during the pregnancy--the IV treatments are used during pregnancy when you're in super rough shape.

As for orals, I was on 500 mg of Zithromax daily after the IV treatment didn't work out, and even though I had some bad days, everything turned out fine in the end. Oddly enough, I had reactions to IV zithromax, but could take pills. Weird.

So far, all of the women I've "met" and developed friendships with through the journal have been on orals. All of their babies are healthy so far. But definitely follow what your doc says--he or she will be able to assess the best route for treatment--sounds like you're at least feeling/doing ok? Good luck! :)
